Film in the 1940s
The 1940s were a turbulent time in history, obviously the biggest war in the history happened in this decade. A lot of people during this time turned to film, looking for a distraction from the real world. The three most important movies of the decade are: Citizen Kane and The Best Years of Our Lives. These films were made in black and white, even though technicolor was improving, but its still was really costly to make movies in color. Citizen Kane, considered to be one of, if not the best movie of all time, made by Orson Welles, who also played the lead in the movie, is a story about Charles Foster Kane. It's a story told backwards, from the death of the character to his start as in the world of Press. The movie comments on the morał corruption that wealth and power bring. It's praised for its use of non-linear story telling and camera tricks.
